St. John hingegen ist total bestimmt von den Kreuzfahrschiffen am Redcliffe Quay. Die Route f\u00fchrte uns zun\u00e4chst durch einige D\u00f6rfer an die S\u00fcdk\u00fcste Antiguas. Keiner hat die Anzahl der wei\u00dfsandigen Strandabschnitte wirklich gez\u00e4hlt. Angeblich gibt es f\u00fcr jeden Tag im Jahr einen anderen Strand, also 365. Wie an einer Kette, reiht sich ein Stand an den anderen. Von der S\u00fcdk\u00fcste Richtung Norden f\u00fchrte uns die Stra\u00dfe vorbei an Jolly Harbour, den wir uns zumindest einmal angesehen haben, bis nach St. John, der Hauptstadt Antiguas. Hier lagen am Redcliffe Quay drei gro\u00dfe Kreuzfahrschiffe, u.a. die AIDA. Vor der Anlegestelle befindet sich eine moderne Einkaufsstra\u00dfe, speziell f\u00fcr die \u201eKreuzfahrer\u201c. Deutlich ist aber der britische Einfluss zu sehen, nicht nur wegen des Linksverkehrs. Nach unserem Badestopp ging es schlie\u00dflich auf direktem Wege, vorbei an der Tankstelle in Liberta, zur\u00fcck zum English Harbour. Der English Harbour ist f\u00fcr sich schon eine der Sehensw\u00fcrdigkeiten auf Antigua. Seit Beginn des 18. Jahrhunderts war der Hafen ein britischer Flottenst\u00fctzpunkt. Heute ist hier alles restauriert und man f\u00fchlt sich wohl in diesem historischen Ambiente. Lord Nelson hielt sich hier \u00fcber 3 Jahre auf und lie\u00df seine Schiffe in der einzigen heute noch erhaltenen georgianischen Werft \u00fcberholen. Nat\u00fcrlich sprachen uns die deutschen Touristen gerne an, um zu erfahren, wie wir hier her gekommen sind und was wir noch vorhaben. Am Abend gingen wir auf die Restaurantterrasse mit Blick auf unser Boot.
